Sean Young

Varsity Head Coach

Sean Young comes to Nute High School after he was was named the 2nd Men’s Head Basketball Coach at Great Bay Community College. Prior to Great Bay Young served as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Epping High School in Epping, N.H. for three years. Young’s energy and enthusiasm is contagious amongst his players past and present. Young’s foundation as a coach is creating a “Family” atmosphere within the framework of his team. Young core belief as a coach is “The more YOU give …. The more WE  get!!!”

In Young’s 1st season at the helm of Great Bay, Young’s team was ranked in the top 15 in the nation in FG % (44%),  ranked in the top 10 in the nation in  3 pointers made (238), 3 point % (34.3%), and ranked in the Top 5 in Free throw % (70%). Young also had the 2nd leading scorer in the nation Tyler White Baltimore Md (25.4 ppg). Young also had the #4 scorer in the countryMarcus Pena Lawrence Ma. (22.4 ppg) through 14 games before a season ending injury.

Before coming to Great Bay, Young led his high school team the Blue Devils of Epping, NH to an overall record of 54-15 in his 3 years at Epping, including their 1st State Championship in 22 years during the 2013-2014 season. Young followed the State Championship appearance up by returning to the State Championship game where his Blue Devils lost in the Championship game to his former program the Warriors of Wilton Lyndeborough. During Young’s 3 years at Epping his teams ranked in the top 5 in the State in scoring while leading the Division in scoring in 2 of his 3 years at the helm and finishing 2nd in scoring in his 1st year. The Blue Devils averaged 67ppg, 69ppg, and 71ppg respectively in his three years at the helm. Prior to coming to Epping Young led the Wilton-Lyndeborough Warriors to an overall record of 85-28 in 5 years. In Young’s first two seasons at Wilton his team lost 1 regular season game, and played for a State Championship. Young was twice named the Class S (Division 4) Coach of the Year, 2006-2007, 2007-2008 seasons. Due in large part to the success of Young’s Warrior basketball team he was asked to coach the New Hampshire Rotary Basketball Team vs Vermont. In 2008 Young was the Assistant Head Coach for Team New Hampshire, and in 2009 Young was the Head Coach of Team New Hampshire. Young has been named the Class S /Division 4 Coach of Granite State games four times 2007, 2008, 2014, and 2015.

A Grand Canyon University alumnus who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management (2016), Young served in the United States Air Force after graduating High School from Pelham High School, Pelham NH in 1993. Prior to becoming the Varsity coach at Wilton Lyndeborough, Young was a Junior Varsity coach at Wilton Lyndeborough for 3 years and at his alma-mater Pelham High School where Young amassed an impressive overall JV record of 107-30 record in 7 years as a Junior Varsity Coach.

Young lives in Litchfield, NH with his wife Kelly and his youngest son Matthew. Coach Young has a daughter Carly, and another son Jonathan.
